The academic year in Nepal runs from March/April
to January/February. The best time to commit a pledge of support
for a student is by October before the next academic year. October
is typically when the district coordinators return to their home
districts to select next year's recipients.
NOTE: If your donation is received after October,
NSP will use it to support "back up" candidates and will
try to use the money as soon as it is received. This may mean that
you will not be able to support the type of child you specified.
You will be promptly notified of the action NSP takes.
During the 2003 academic year, there were 322 students studying in
68 districts of Nepal.
NSP has selected 25 students from 11 districts this
academic year. The education of the selected students will be sponsored
for the period of three years. The sponsored students are currently
studying in grade eight. Most of them are from rural areas of the
country. The districts coordinators have been sent the money to
be disbursed among the sponsored students.
