Dear patrons,

Nepal's future relies on the education her children receive today. Although, the government claims to have made primary and secondary level education free of cost, schools are allowed to raise money in the name of maintenance and exam fees. Children are taken out of the school because the family cannot afford to buy books, copies and other stationeries. They are used as helping hand to the family chores while compromising their future. If somehow we could support them financially and emotionally we believe that we can make difference to their lives as well as their progeny.

In this scenario, where most of the children are deprived of basic education due to socio-economic condition we hope to that this program provides a ray of hope to those genuine students who endeavor to free themselves from the clutches of poverty and hardship through providing education. Your contribution is the investment you will be making to the society that you hope to shape for the benefit of you, your family and the nation. And we want you to be part of this transformation by joining hand with us. At SEBS, we have acted on this belief by initiating the SEBS Nationwide Scholarship Programme.

Sponsoring a child for his/her education

The academic year in Nepal runs from March/April to January/February. The best time to commit a pledge of support for a student is by October before the next academic year. October is typically when the district coordinators return to their home districts to select next year's recipients.

NOTE: If your donation is received after October, NSP will use it to support "back up" candidates and will try to use the money as soon as it is received. This may mean that you will not be able to support the type of child you specified. You will be promptly notified of the action NSP takes.

During the 2003 academic year, there were 418 students studying in 65 districts of Nepal.

NSP has selected 25 students from 11 districts this academic year. The education of the selected students will be sponsored for the period of three years. The sponsored students are currently studying in grade eight. Most of them are from rural areas of the country. The districts coordinators have been sent the money to be disbursed among the sponsored students.
